Chairman and CEO
Andy Sandler is an entrepreneur, business leader, and lawyer. He leads Temerity Capital Partners, the Sandler family office and private investment company, which invests in and advises early-stage companies developing new technologies in financial services.
Andy is CEO and founder of Asurity, a software firm focused on providing automated compliance management solutions for the mortgage and banking industries. He is Senior Partner at Mitchell Sandler, a law firm focused on the financial services industry and Fintech. Andy also founded and led both Buckley Sandler, a premier financial services law firm, and Treliant, one of the nation’s preeminent privately owned and operated financial services industry consulting firms. He owns the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, a Class A Minor League baseball team, and the Greensboro Grasshoppers, a High A Minor League baseball team.
For the past 30 years, Andy has been a trusted strategic and legal advisor and counsel to the financial services industry. Chambers USA has recognized Andy as “one of the leading stars of the financial services regulatory firmament.” Legal Times named him as a “Legal Visionary” for his role in founding and leading Buckley Sandler and as “Deal Maker of the Year” for his regulatory advice in navigating complex transactions. Andy was named a Public Justice Trial Lawyer of the Year finalist for his representation of the Navajo Nation in its breach of trust litigation with the United States where Andy and his colleagues achieved a $554 million settlement for the Nation in 2014.
Andy founded The Sandler Family Foundation which focuses on social entrepreneurship and financial inclusion with his three adult children, Karna, Michael and Jake. He is Vice Chair of the National Board of Directors of the Cancer Support Community, a global non-profit organization delivering psycho-social support to cancer patients and caregivers.
Andy holds J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Wharton School of Business; an M.A. from the University of Warwick (U.K., Rotary Foundation Fellow), and a BA from Union College. He is a fellow in the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers. His leadership roles at the American Bar Association Litigation and Business Law Sections have included Chair of the Consumer and Civil Rights Committee and Vice Chair of the Banking Law Committee. Sandler is a member of The Council on the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence. He is also a member of the Center for American Progress’s Economic Advisory Council.
Michael Sandler is a Partner at Temerity Capital Partners leading day-to-day operations and Venture Capital investing with a focus on early-stage Fintech and Regtech companies.
Michael advises Asurity Technologies on corporate development and is a board member of Oliver, Digital Pay, and Covered Insurance. Previously, Michael was a management consultant with Treliant Risk Advisors in Washington, D.C., and New York City. Michael’s prior experience includes stints at venture-backed Fintech startups Credit Karma and Self Financial, investing in early-stage companies at Wild Basin Investments, and financial regulatory policy work at the Treasury Department and the U.S. House of Representatives.
Michael holds a B.S.M. in Finance from Tulane University, an M.B.A. from The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas, and a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law.
Senior Operating Partner
David Fontaine is a Senior Operating Partner at Temerity Capital Partners, where he works to oversee the operations of Temerity’s various portfolio companies and related investments. Currently, David works closely with the management of Asurity to improve operations and to evaluate strategic options. He also serves as the Chairman of Oliver.
Prior to joining Temerity, David served as the CEO of Corporate Risk Holdings (CRH) and its subsidiaries (Kroll + HireRight). At CRH, David developed and successfully executed a corporate growth strategy that resulted in across the board improvements in organizational performance, leading to the sale of each of CRH’s operating companies. David is a graduate of Trinity College, Hartford, CT and earned his J.D. from the Yale Law School.
Managing Director, Temerity Impact Fund
Jake Sandler is a Principal at Temerity Capital Partners and Managing Director of the Temerity Impact Fund.
Jake is also currently the CEO and Co-founder of a civic tech platform that makes it easy for citizens to motivate politicians to do better through micro grassroots fundraising. Previously Jake helped build Asurity Technologies, a B2B SaaS compliance analytic company. Jake started at Asurity as the first employee and eventually led strategy, corporate development, business operations and marketing.
Jake holds a B.A. in Political Economy and Spanish from Tulane University and serves as a board member on FairVote.
Managing Director, Temerity Ventures Studio
Julie Sandler manages Temerity’s newest division, Temerity Ventures Studio. Julie has co-founded two and led three marketing agencies; served as CMO to a rapidly growing fintech startup; implemented dozens of customer acquisition campaigns; deployed multi-million dollar and grassroots economic development campaigns; and managed more than $50M in national and global marketing spend.
Her work includes The ACLU, Temerity Capital Partners, Asurity Technologies, #WeDC, Marriott International, Waldorf Astoria, Comcast, The George Washington University, Greater Washington Partnership, Washington DC Economic Partnership, and the City of Washington, DC.
Julie holds a B.A. in English from George Mason University where she also serves as a board member of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Chief of Staff
Alicia Amling is the Chief of Staff at Temerity Capital Partners, where she manages outward-facing projects for Temerity and its CEO.
Alicia also serves as Director at Temerity Baseball where she leads community relations and spearheads Temerity’s involvement in baseball-adjacent real estate development and community building. Alicia managed the launch of Atrium Health Ballpark, which won Ballpark Digest’s 2021 “Best of the Ballparks” award. Alicia also spearheaded the creation of the Cannon Ballers’ brand identity which has won numerous awards and is consistently rated one of the best brands in Minor League Baseball.
Alicia joined Temerity after a career in network television where she produced and reported from Capitol Hill, the White House, and all around the country during Campaigns 2012 and 2016. Alicia got her start in Washington working for the number one-rated public affairs show, “Face the Nation.” Alicia holds a B.A. from Washington and Lee University, in Lexington, Va.
A. Michael Miller
Mike Miller is the General Counsel of Temerity Capital Partners. Mike’s responsibilities encompass all legal, compliance, and regulatory matters, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and venture capital investment, and commercial and technology transactions.
Prior to joining Temerity, Mike worked extensively with private-equity owned technology-enabled companies in the areas of business services, risk management, compliance, cybersecurity, and payments. Most recently, Mike served as the Deputy General Counsel of Corporate Risk Holdings, LLC where he operated as the chief lawyer for the transactional due diligence business unit of Kroll (a global investigations, compliance, and cybersecurity firm) and Kroll Factual Data (a leading provider of data and verification services to the mortgage industry). Prior to Corporate Risk, Mike was the Assistant General Counsel for Travelex Global Business Payments, Inc. (acquired by Western Union), where he managed domestic legal matters for this global non-bank financial services provider of wire transfer, ACH, and check conversion services. Earlier in his career, Mike was an Associate at the boutique business management and sports agency GameTime Sports Management, LLC, where he helped manage various off-the-field business transactions and personal matters for certain professional football and baseball players, including 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee and former Baltimore Ravens’ linebacker, Ray Lewis.
Mike is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center, where he earned an LL.M in Securities and Financial Regulation, the Widener University School of Law (J.D.), and the University of Maryland – College Park (B.A.).
Associate General Counsel
Adelaide Schwartz is Associate General Counsel at Temerity Capital Partners. She helps oversees legal, compliance, and regulatory matters for Temerity and select portfolio companies.
Adelaide enjoys working with companies that seek to provide superior services to institutional change agents and traditionally underserved clients. She started her legal career focused on international development as an MD Anderson Legal Fellow at the World Bank where she primarily worked with West African governments on infrastructure and fiscal projects. Adelaide worked as a general practitioner in Texas where she helped to litigate and advise small businesses in corporate law matters and families in probate, estate, and property issues. Frustrated by the legal discovery process, Adelaide transitioned to legal tech startup, CS Disco, where she managed internal project attorney teams for small to Am Law 100 sized law firms tackling national anti-trust and white-collar crime cases.
Adelaide holds a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
Controller and Director of Finance
Paul Weller is the Controller and Director of Finance at Temerity Capital Partners, where he manages the financial responsibilities of Temerity and its CEO.
Paul worked as the Assistant Controller of H.I.G. Capital’s Leverage Buyout & Venture Capital accounting team. There, he oversaw the financial reporting and investor deliverables for over 30 legal entities. Previously, Paul was an auditor with Marcum LLP in New York City where his clients included private equity funds, hedge funds, and fund of funds.
Paul holds a Master of Accounting and B.S.M. in Finance from Tulane University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of New York.
Director of People Operations
Els Eerdekens is the Director of People Operations at Temerity Capital Partners, where she focuses on fostering healthy work cultures and excellent employee experiences for Temerity and its portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Temerity, Els built and led the People function at Oliver, a tech company based in Austin, TX. Previously, Els developed and managed people initiatives for NYU College of Dentistry in New York City. Els started her career working as an organizational development consultant in Belgium, where she advised and supported organizations and their team members in diverse industries.
Els holds an M.S. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from KULeuven, in Belgium.
Raj Bajwa is an Associate at Temerity Capital Partners, where he focuses on investment analysis across all asset classes, and portfolio company support. Raj’s experience includes corporate strategy with UT-Austin, public equities investing with Dimensional Fund Advisors, middle market Private Equity with Activus Capital Partners, and early stage Venture Capital with G-51 Capital. Before starting his M.B.A., Raj worked as a technology consultant with Accenture, and as a patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Raj holds an M.B.A from The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin, and a B.S. in Materials Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.
As Executive Assistant to Andy Sandler, Anne skillfully manages administrative duties and client relations for Andy and her colleagues at Temerity Capital Partners. She has decades of experience, having started her career as the assistant to the fashion editor of the legendary fashion publication Women’s Wear Daily. Anne ensures that Temerity operates smoothly with her deep knowledge of office management and her ability to collaborate with colleagues at every level. She relies on her instincts, resourcefulness, and sense of humor to get any task completed swiftly and successfully.
